Native Plant Rescue is a Nature Based Solution that offers an opportunity for collaboration and recognizes development sites as spaces with relationships that deserve our care, and that are rich with native Ontario flora, history, and life.

We work with developers, municipalities, and private landowners to rescue native plants before construction begins, giving plants a second life to continue the benefits they provide for the world around them in naturalization projects, community spaces, food forests, and ecological gardens.

LOCALLY ADAPTED GENETICS

Rescued plants have spent generations adapting to the exact soil, climate, and pest pressures of our regional environment, giving them a vastly superior survival rate.

They provide Quality Habitat

Mature native rescues immediately support local pollinators, birds, and soil microbes

Preserving Rare Seed Stocks

Many development sites contain unique local ecotypes or medicinal native plants that cannot be bought in stores. Rescuing them helps keep these rare and unique places alive in the region.

Rescued and surviving species can be accounted for in offsetting, replanting, and carbon sequestration goals, as well as can their lower carbon footprint.

These packages are targeted to different audiences. This work takes an integrated approach, which means there are many roles, and many stops along the way to make sure plants are rescued, supported on their journey, and find a new home to be replanted.
