HEALTHY LANDSCAPES

We specialize in restoring and protecting both your property and the ecosystems within it by creating productive, sustainable, and healthy gardens and plant scapes. Every inch of landscape holds a rich ecosystem of plants and animals that can benefit you, your property, your community, and the planet as a whole.

Our Services

We work across a range of scales, from private gardens to fields of land, to help you enjoy the benefits that those plants, vegetation, water systems and even animals can bring you. No garden is too small to have an impact! Whether you’re looking for removals, rescues, restoration or reforestation - we can make it happen! Here are some examples of healthy ecosystems you can enjoy:

BUTTERFLY GARDENS

Butterfly gardens provide habitat for bees, beneficial insects, and of course, butterflies - all of which help with pollination. They take 2-3 years to establish.

NATIVE GARDENS

Native gardens are filled with species that have thrived in your geographic location for a LONG time. They often become homes for species that have lost their own homes. They take 3-5 years to establish.

PERENNIAL FOOD GARDENS

Food gardens are a great way to turn your lawn into an area that is both beautiful and productive for your dinner plate. Filled with perennial foods that you can enjoy for years to come. They take 2-5 years to establish.

RESTORATION AGRICULTURE

For sites ranging from 1-50 acres, your entire landscape can become a food-producing ecosystem that feeds itself. We are planning, planting, and management experts at sites that can grow up to 50 different species of foods! They take 1-5 years to establish because of their mix of both annual and perennial species.

INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL

Got garlic mustard, phragmites forests, or hogweed heart attacks? We’ve worked with them all! For smaller locations especially, we can be your property’s guardian angels through the hand removal of invasive species. This service will have surrounding plants singing your praises within days of removing those pesky trespassers.

ANALOG REFORESTATION

An old technique with a modern name, analog forests mimic the structure of natural forests. The cool thing about them is that they’re filled with species that are not only useful for you, but future generations to come. They typically take 3+ years to establish.

Our PROCESS

Simply tell us about your landscape, what you’re hoping to do with it, and we can help you to get things growing! We’ll work with you across 3 customizable stages: Sharing, Planning & Doing.

  • SERVICE: Our consultations cover 2 HRS of walking, talking, and sharing ideas about your property or project. We’ll also work closely with you on identifying plants and management plans toward your specific goals. This includes locations for plants, types of plants, plant requirements, sources for plants, and expected outcomes. This is also where we would typically quote follow-up costs.

    COST: $120-$240

  • SERVICE: Management plans are customized for your unique landscape. They typically include details on your pre-site survey, proposed work, sourcing for materials, costs, maintenance, and evaluation planning to measure your success and make better-informed decisions on managing your site in the future. Oftentimes, we can also couple these services with our project support and aerial imaging in order to provide you with even more detailed information towards helping you achieve your project goals.

COST: $300 Base Rate for Small Projects & Customized Pricing for Large Projects.

  • SERVICE: For garden projects, this includes garden establishment (if needed), planting, and initial watering. For forest and restoration sites this includes harvesting (vegetation), replanting (reforestation), invasive species removal and safe disposal.

COST: $90-$180/HR + Cost of Materials (Additional labor can be requested $60-90/HR)

Our work

Our work has always been in restoring, protecting and enjoying ecosystems and the services they provide. Since healthy landscapes is the very first service that our company began offering many moons ago, we have a long history of project examples. Although we’re based in Southwestern Ontario, we have extended our services to operate all the way up to Mid-Northern Ontario - and sometimes globally to complete our unique style of work. See what we’ve been up to over the years:

Another unique sub-service we offer in the Spring is Native Plant Rescue! This is where plants are removed from areas where they’re not wanted, to areas where they are. Learn more about this specific service here:
